Besides, at night you get to see all the lava glowing, and it's not nearly as hot and miserable as it will be during the day. LOL-I know, I know, I am always way overly ambitious with other people's kids. I'm sure you will enjoy it no matter how you do it!Dreamybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274518106482632672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-21468245649623089322011-05-29T05:40:26.268-10:002011-05-29T05:40:26.268-10:00I forgot about the meteor shower! It would be cool, I just don't think the kids will be able to stay up because of the time difference. We are worried about that. :)

We are renting a house on the water so I'm sure I'll stay up on the patio to see if I can see any of the meteor shower. Thanks for the info!Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03125852166745378716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-62511357684327026832011-05-28T23:20:10.562-10:002011-05-28T23:20:10.562-10:00Mike-Oops, I forgot to say that as far as I know, ...Mike-Oops, I forgot to say that as far as I know, the turtles come ashore year-round.Dreamybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274518106482632672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-41831557583203278262011-05-28T23:19:19.183-10:002011-05-28T23:19:19.183-10:00Wendy-I honestly don't know that much about it...Wendy-I honestly don't know that much about it either other than that it happens. Yes, definite kudos to the volunteers!

Mike-Punalu'u, the black sand beach on the Big Island, has turtles that come ashore. I don't know if they do it in other places or not, but I have seen them there. If you have a chance to get over to the volcano when you're there, do it, especially at night. It's amazing. If you can be there during a meteor shower, do it! There is virtually no light polution and the milky way absolutely glows. You can just lie on the lava and watch the stars. The Perseid meteor shower is scheduled for August 13...Dreamybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274518106482632672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-2894684053917737112011-05-28T19:23:06.961-10:002011-05-28T19:23:06.961-10:00Neat! We're going to the Kona area in August and I was wondering if the kids will get to see any. I guess the beach we will be near gets turtles there, too.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03125852166745378716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-61481176021539787102011-05-28T18:00:14.771-10:002011-05-28T18:00:14.771-10:00cool.
