Why does he want to be president so bad if he thinks America is such a wasteland? It's kind of like a guy wanting to date you and telling you, "Baby, come with me. I will make your life so much better. I mean, it's gonna be hard, considering your white trash family, your inferior intellect and your ugly-ass face, but I think I can do it." Gee, thanks.

I see what you're saying about it being voluntary/non-voluntary to take care of your fellow man. I guess the argument that I would make there is that you might be one of those fellow men someday; and if you're opposed to spending money on someone for, let's say disability payments while they recuperate from their battle with cancer, then I would expect you to decline the same in the future.

As far as helping out the people in government who enacted those laws, I guess fair is fair. You may not like the guy, but as long as he is playing by the same rules as everyone else (I know, that's a big IF!) when it comes to accessing those benefits, it's not really fair to discriminate against somebody based on what their job was.

I have a whole theory that we should get to vote on where our tax dollars get spent every year. I don't mean like election-style voting, I mean like an actual list that comes out every year and you get to go down it and check off all the boxes of things you want to spend your tax dollars on. Of course, I'm not sure how big that list would be-I imagine most people might hit fatigue and just check off the first five things on the list and be done with it. Not sure how well that would work in practice, but I think it's a great theory! ;) Dreamybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274518106482632672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029029834485250516.post-44451816453434058992012-11-02T02:30:55.427-10:002012-11-02T02:30:55.427-10:00OK, here is my 2 cents - flowing unfiltered like t...OK, here is my 2 cents - flowing unfiltered like the smokey scotch I'm sipping while I write.

I say that at the heart of this discussion is the thought of "taking care of your fellow man".

Some on the party boundaries gleefully call this socialism so as to elicit a pseudo-patriotic response akin to "What? Communists?? Kill 'em!!" but clearly your mind operates on a plane high above the sheeple that are easily influenced by amateur tactics and dare I say is likely contributing to your disdain of the shenanigans of the election process.

Now let's take a step back and try a different perspective: What if I were to say that I am all for taking care of my fellow man, the father of 13 who's working hard, served his country (and by some extension, me), and is actively contributing to the betterment of society in general. What if my issue is with being forced to do that by someone else (GOVT)?

Even better, what if my issue is not so much that I'm being coerced, but because I know that in doing so, that the very individuals who comprise the GOVT, who enact the laws of taking care of one another are also benefiting - quite often more that the very souls I'd like to have helped to begin with?

Truth be told - I voted with you.

P.S. ZOMG!!! Why haven't I found your Blog before!!! :)Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06142447565842750596noreply@blogger.com
