What Super Power Would You Want?

This is a question that has sparked some interesting discussions amongst friends before, and Joanne's recent review of Fairy Tails, Volumes I and II brought this question to the front of my mind.  I think that whenever people hear this question, they always think that there will be a fairly pat set of answers, but it always turns out to be surprising, so...

If you could have any kind of super power at all, what would it be?  I've been told that my original answer to this question was that I would like the ability to communicate with animals.  This way, I wouldn't have to make up all of my dogs' dialogue in my head, and I would feel much more at ease in the water, knowing that I could call for help at anytime if I ever got in trouble, sort of like Aquaman.  Also, capturing cool underwater shots would be much easier.

I am going to moderate the comments on this one because I want to see what everyone comes up with without the influence of other people's answers...well, now you have the influence of my answer, but that was just to get things rolling.

Without question, mind reading. I know all the stuff about, "Do you *really* want to know what everyone's thinking?" But, yes, actually, I think I do.

Glad to know we aren't the only one's to make up our dog's dialogue in our heads;-) That would be quite a useful super power. I'd love to know what my dog is actually thinking!

I've always thought it'd be cool to be invisible. Then you could go places unnoticed, haunt someone if you wanted to, or listen in on things that you'd never be able to hear otherwise. It could end up being an eye-opening experience, but then again, so could communicating with animals!

I've always wanted to be able to fly. If I'm never granted a superpower, I'd settle for the low-gravity gliding in the Robert Heinlein story "The Menace from Earth."

I am now at an age that I want to be myself and that I actually only want God as my super power.
Thank you for your visit and comment. Have a nice weekend.

I think I would want to be able to fly. I could go anywhere I want, when I want. No airport delays. No lost luggage. Hmm. I'd have to figure out a way to take luggage, and the family. Also, I need some protective clothing, as well as get over my fear of heights. But, yes, I would love to be able to fly.

Meryl-Yeah, I always want to know what others are thinking too. You'd have to be able to turn it off every once in a while though I think.

Kimmy-Invisibility would definitely be cool too. I would love to be able to sneak around places and find out what people are up to or even just get into a movie for free!

Jeanne-Me too! I dream about flying a lot, but it sounds like it's more of the low-level gravity gliding that you just mentioned than actual flying.

Reader Wil-I guess God is a pretty good super power!

Mike-LOL. Don't you hate it when the practicalities of real life get in the way of your super powers?

I must say that I have no need for a super-power. The world as such has, but not I.

PS Thank you for the very pleasant comment!

Oh, Dude, invisibility for sure! Maybe I could mix invisibility and "super-stink" so that I could let loose with a big one as I walked by and nobody would know where it came from.

Maybe I'll choose Darwin as my superpower instead (ya know what I mean)?

RuneE-If you're not going to use yours, can I?

Chartroose-LOL @"Super-stink" as a super power! See, that's the kind of stuff I was talking about. I was actually surprised to see as many votes for flying and invisibility here as I did. When I've had this discussion other times I expected flying and invisibility but instead heard all kinds of off-the-wall stuff that I never would have thought of on my own...like the ability to super stink while invisible.

In a heartbeat, I would pick Teleportation. To be able to go anywhere on a Earth in a blink of an eye, with just a thought.

(I'm constantly plagued with a traveller's itch!)

Good question. The superpower you choose kind of reveals who you are doesn't it?

arieldalloway-So many times I would have killed to be able to teleport! Well, okay, maybe not killllled, but I wouldn't have been above bribing somebody for their place in line. ;)

Yes, among the people I know who have participated in this, one's choice of super power does seem to say a lot about him or her. :)

Thanks for playing!

Hi Dreamybee, what a fun topic. I am already colored by your answer and the one I can see of Meryl as I am typing. Aquaman, he was always a puzzle to me, but I really liked his orange and green suit. And the fins on his gloved arms. Anyway, hmmm. Super strength would be my choice. Able to dig whole gardens in a single day. Not pooping out after the umpteenth trip up to the shed and back down the hill again. Maybe teleporting would be good too, though. Just a blink and you are wherever you need to be. Can we have two?

Frances-I think as long as you promise only to use your powers for good, you can have two! Super strength in the garden would definitely be a good one to have.
