Bobbie at Til We Read Again has come up with a wonderful mini-challenge. She wants to know what our favorites are.
Favorite Female Character in a book: Minny (The Help) because she is a sassy black maid in the South who reminds me of my dad...who is neither black nor a maid nor from the South.
Favorite Male Character in a book: This was the hardest one for me to figure out, but I think I will have to go with Father Emilio Sandoz (The Sparrow)
Favorite Side Kick in a book: Biff (Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal)
Favorite Couple in a Book: Henry and Clare (The Time Traveler's Wife)
Favorite Book Series: Don't have one
Favorite Author: Mary Doria Russell
Favorite Book Cover: Modoc: The True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived
Favorite Book of 2009: The Help

Biff's name just cracks me up everytime!
Hellooooo from down under or perhaps in your case I'm thinking maybe we're a bit off to the left...geography was never my strong point....anyway - I thought The Help was great too...and we had our best bookclub last month discussing it!
softdrink-I know! Isn't it perfect!
Luvvie-Down under and to the left is exactly right. I'm jealous of your book club discussion! Ours was...OK. It did bring up an interesting perspective though, given the make-up of the group-three white girls in their 30s and a mixed-race gentleman in his 60s who grew up in the South.
