Dewey's Read-a-Thon

Well, after several years of lurking in the shadows, I've finally done it!  I've committed to Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon!  I figure, I'm reading all the time anyway, why not do it in some sort of official, yet fun, capacity?

I've got a stack of library books, a bunch of books that I own and have never read, a traveling husband, a visiting cat, AND I just baked a 4 1/2 lb. pound cake.  Seriously.  I just weighed myself with it and then without it.  It weighs FOUR-AND-A-HALF POUNDS!  Ha!  That is awesome!  Wait, wasn't I lamenting the lack of healthy eating choices during the last Read-a-Thon?  Um...yeah...Well, it's not like I can't make something healthy between now and then!  Besides, I'm sure I'll have half of it eaten by then anyway.  I have a small bag of Brussels sprouts in the fridge.  Wish me luck on Sunday.

If you're looking for something indulgent to do this weekend, consider joining the Read-a-Thon, even if it's just for a few hours.  You will literally have hundreds of fellow readers with which to commiserate/rejoice/share your joy/feel your pain and there are even prizes to be had!

And here I've been so proud of myself for the fairly regular up-in-the-morning, asleep-at-night schedule that I've been keeping lately.  Oh well...what better cause?

Have a great time! My daughter and I are participating together again, which will be fun. That must be some huge cake!

Good luck! Do you think the time difference will help or hurt you? That's assuming it starts at a certain time in a particular time zone.

I'll be working this weekend, no staying up all night for me. :)

I'm in too, for the second time, but I doubt I'll get in anywhere near 24 hours. I'm signed up to cheerlead for an hour, though, and I'm counting that!

Good luck, and have a great time :-D.

Anna-That's cool that you have someone to participate with you! ( I mean, IRL).

Mike-It starts at 2AM my time, so I think if I can get to bed early enough on Friday night, I will be fine. The trick will be getting up early enough Friday morning to warrant going to sleep early enough Friday night!

Florinda-I signed up to cheerlead last time, and that kept me super busy. I didn't feel like I was up to the challenge of doing both. You go, girl!

Nymeth-Thanks, I'm sure I will!

Fun - sounds like you're all set up! I just read a book I loved - Whipsmart by Melissa Feebos - you'll either really like it or really not. I thought it was a wonderfully written memoir. She's incredibly eloquent, insightful, and the book is wildly engaging. If you havne't heard about it yet, I'll let you look up a synopsis! :)

I'm putting your winnings in the mail tomorrow - sorry about the delay!!!

Yahoo!! The readathon is a blast, although I've never managed to be a reader. I always have too much fun cheering you all on.
